Humility is one of the most important traits for a child of God. In football, on the line of scrimmage, it is usually the low man that wins. This means whoever gets position is going to win the battle on the line. It is usually a joy to watch the front 5 from the Cowboys who are good at ‘getting low’. They dominate because they work hard at this principle.
Naaman, a gentile, learns of Elisha and his ability to possibly cleanse him of his leprosy. The New Testament declares that no lepers were cleansed at this time, and yet this young girl believed God could do it... what faith! The instructions from the Man of God were too humbling for Naaman, and he almost didn’t wash in the cold muddy waters of Jordan. He finally humbled himself and washed himself. God completely healed him after that last dunk, just as He said.
God is able to humble those who walk in pride. Pride usually births children in your life like bitterness, anger, stress, and more. You can stay humble by remembering who you are, a sinner saved by grace, and who He is, the One who saved you!
Today, humble yourself before the Lord, He can exalt a man who is low.
