“I love people so much I’m willing to speak a truth that may cause me to sound crazy, lose friends, or become unpopular. But I don’t mind. Jesus said that would happen.” – Source Unknown
As a Junior in High School, I did one of the most uncharacteristic things in my life. By nature, I am very passivist and will do ANYTHING to avoid conflict. I am a people person and a people pleaser, and I do not want to offend. As a believer, I felt I needed to be confrontational and take a stand.
Our public school had adopted a policy, and I knew it was an opportunity to take a stand for the Lord. I wish I could tell you I had a good/right spirit about it, but I didn’t (the one thing I really wish I could change). In a very terrified spirit, I made an appointment with the principal and had a meeting with him about the policy. It was changed, and let’s just say most of the students were not happy about it.
Over the next few weeks, I had several students get very angry with me, and even lost some friends over the stand. In the end, it was a very challenging time, but a time I grew in my faith like never before. The stand I took was very unpopular but right, and it wasn’t easy.
Micaiah has become a hero in the Bible for me, because he was willing to tell the truth even when 400 of his “colleagues” were pushing a lie. For his honesty, Micaiah was served affliction and pain. We are not told the end of Micaiah’s life, but we do know the position he lived by, “As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.” – 2 Chronicles 18:13
You may never be called upon to take an unpopular stand, but you should be prepared to. We are living in a society that seems quick to attack churches and believers alike. That has been manifestly made clear through this pandemic of Covid-19. There will likely come a time that each believer and church will have to take an unpopular stand.
Let us be prayed up, and ready to take a stand for the truth. When popular opinion shifts, may you be willing to stand on the timeless truths of the Word of God. Make a commitment today, that you will stand even when it is unpopular to do so.

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
