“Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down” - Mary Poppins.
“Why would you use poison if you can kill with honey?” - Bosnian Proverb
We have had to set a few live traps in the past in order to catch a couple stray dogs and several resilient raccoons. Nothing in any of these animals wants to walk into a metal cage... and yet they do, why? The food in the trap entices them. The desire to get a scrumptious meal overwhelms the danger and fear associated with where the food is kept. The result... captured.
One of the greatest vices for the Children of Israel is that they mixed and mingled with other people who were the enemies of God. When they allowed these influences to shape them and lead them away from God, the results were always disastrous!
It is just like Satan to come as an angel of light and make us believe that everything is okay, and we have it under control. The reality is that we are eating the meal that will get us trapped! The little things are normally what get you, so be vigilant.
Today be mindful of that old serpent, the devil, who will try just about anything to detour you from living for God. It might be a time waster, a questionable friendship, or an irritating situation, but Satan is a master at getting us to ruin our service for Christ by entering his traps.
