“If you give God the right to yourself, He will make a holy experiment out of you. God’s experiments always succeed.” – Oswald Chambers
“Faith always trumps fear”
Faith is one of the greatest attributes any child of God can have. Faith – believing God enough to act upon His commands. Hebrews 11:1 gives us the clearest definition of faith in the Bible, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” A casual reading of Hebrews eleven would show that faith is not grabbing at straws or some whimsical wish, but rather quite trust in a revealed promise of God. I am thankful that God has not left us in the dark on His will, plan, and intentions. Graciously, God has given us the Word of God which communicates God clear expectations to us. You want to have faith, start reading the Word and then do the Word.
Surely nothing is a grievous in the heart of God than when His children lack faith in Him. When God reveals His truth and gives His clear instruction and then man elects to doubt God, indeed this must be one of the saddest commentaries. This is especially sad when we have such a detailed and clear record of all those who have gone before us and have found Him faithful time and again. Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and so many more trust by faith.
Could you imagine the glowing record that would be recorded in Scriptures had the Children of Israel believed God and by faith took the land? Of all the great Old Testament stories, this would be one of the greatest. We would praise their faith and marvel at how God provided for them in the conquest of Canaan. Israel instead trades victory for defeat, losing for winning, and possessing for wandering. Even though they acknowledged their mistake and tried to move forward, the damage was already done. They got their wish to die in the wilderness, and everyone twenty years and older would die within the forty years in the wilderness. If you do some simple math, there would be approximately seventy to a hundred people a day that would die! That many each day for forty years would die in the wilderness because they lacked faith to follow God’s will and plan.
Don’t make the blunder of lacking faith. As the song writer Baylus Benjamin McKinney wrote, “Have faith in God though all else fall about you; have faith in God, He provides for His own: He cannot fail though all kingdoms shall perish. He rules, He reigns upon His throne. Have faith in God, He’s on His throne, Have faith in God, He watches over His own; He cannot fail, He must prevail, have faith in God, have faith in God.” Believe God, trust Him, and have faith that He can do everything He said He could do.
Today express faith and trust in God alone. He can do what He said He would do, and you can take that to the bank. His faithfulness has been proven over and over again, and He is a God that we can place our faith in. I don’t know what you are doubting today about God’s promises and sufficiency, but change your doubt to faith, and your unbelief to belief right now.
