Sometimes God has to take some drastic steps in our lives to get us back on track. This may come in the form of discipline or judgement, where God attempts to shake us out of our rebellion and apathy. Sometimes, God can even send blessings to show us His faithfulness and superiority over any and everything else.
After years of evil kings and a downright refusal to worship Him alone, God finally comes through with His promise to Israel. In 722 BC, Assyria invaded and decimated Israel. Over 100 years later in 586 BC, Babylon did the same to Judah.
The primary purpose God allowed this was to ‘cure’ them of their love of many gods. God intended them to serve Him alone, but they had served false gods time and time again. This judgement evidently worked like a charm, because from that day until now Israel has been Monotheistic, serving just one God.
No one likes trials, but we often like the results they produce. Maybe it is that God is taking you through a trial in your life because of sin or just to make you better. Remember that the Potter knows the clay, the fuller knows the garment, and the refiner knows the metal.
He knows what you need and how to get you where you need to be. The best thing for you to do is submit and just say, “Lay it on me Lord, I deserve it, and I need what you are trying to do in my life”. In humble submission to His will, He can mold and make us into what He desires us to be.
